Another aged care CEO resigns
Justin Lorenz has resigned from the Queensland aged care, home care and retirement living operator, Mercy Community.
Justin was with the Not For Profit for five years, including two years as Chief Financial Officer and then nearly three years as CEO.
“I leave extremely proud of what has been achieved at Mercy Community during the nearly five years I spent there,” he said.
In his time with the organisation, Justin oversaw a transformation plan addressing operational and financial sustainability challenges, returning the organisation to profitability.
“I leave a very different Mercy Community from a strategic sense, from the one I joined,” Justin said. “It is now more focused on its operations and service delivery, has a much reduced corporate risk profile, and very importantly has shifted from historical ongoing financial deficit results to sustainably profitable financial performance.”
Justin said he has no immediate future plans.
Justin’s LinkedIn post on the announcement attracted dozens of comments. Cheryl Caughley, Not For Profit Board Director, said: “Justin you did facilitate great change and transformation of Mercy Community during your time there in both roles.”
Mercy Community opened a three-storey, 90-bed aged care facility Mercy Haven in Rockhampton, 600km north of Brisbane, last year.
The organisation operates five aged care homes across Brisbane, Rockhampton, and Townsville, and has five retirement villages, and 700 home care clients.
