In a phenomenal growth story, Knowles Group-owned Arcare will add more beds to Australia’s aged care network in the next two years than most operators have managed in a decade – and almost twice the number the entire sector built in 2024-25.

Colliers’ Residential Aged Care Market Report shows just 578 new residential beds were added across Australia in 2024-25. By contrast, Arcare will open 733 beds in 2025 and is on track to add at least a further 372 beds in 2026 – more than 1,100 beds in total.

In the final quarter of 2025, Arcare will open:

  • Arcare Werribee, 32km south-west of the Melbourne CBD – 120 beds (now open)
  • Arcare Clyde, 48km south-east of the Melbourne CBD – 110 beds (opening this week)
  • Arcare Wright, 13km south-west of the Canberra CBD – 98 beds (due to open in December)

In 2026, the operator is on track to open:

  • Mount Waverley, 16km south-east of the Melbourne CBD – 118 beds (expected October)
  • Sunbury, 40km north-west of the Melbourne CBD – 136 beds (expected November)
  • Hove, 12km south-west of the Adelaide CBD – 118 beds, Arcare’s first home in South Australia

Construction on a home in Gold Creek is scheduled to begin in 2026, with numerous other projects in the pipeline.

Long-time design partner VIA Architects has been appointed to a new project in Prahran, on the site of the iconic German Club Tivoli.

Arcare has also secured State Significant Development approval for Huntlee Arcare, a 96-bed home 170km north of Sydney, within the Huntlee New Town masterplanned community.

On the acquisitions front, Arcare has picked up several homes and sites in recent years, including Not For Profit Mercy Health’s former Maryville Hostel in Boronia, 30km east of the Melbourne CBD, in mid-2024.
