20% of this 29-storey tower to be affordable rental housing for vulnerable people

1 min read

Funded by $88.6 million from the Federal Government’s National Housing Infrastructure Facility, with the Western Australia Government contributing over $40.6 million, a new 29-storey apartment building is set to be built in the Perth CBD.

Of the 219 new apartments, 30% have been allocated to new social rental homes, with 20% to be designated as affordable rental homes, with the goal of providing affordable housing to key workers and vulnerable people.

“This project ticks all the boxes. It will mean key workers can live and work in the same community and provide new homes to Western Australians in need, including older women at risk of homelessness,” Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said.

The project, designed by Hassell, has been developed by DevelopmentWA in partnership with future owners: Not For Profit housing provider Housing Choices Australia and specialist affordable housing fund manager Super Housing Partnerships.
