BaptistCare extending two retirement villages with existing facilities fully occupied

1 min read

Charles Moore, who was appointed CEO of the newly merged BaptistCare NSW & ACT and Baptistcare WA organisation in June 2023 and had been CEO of BaptistCare NSW & ACT since 2020, has two retirement village projects under construction.

The Not For Profit, which has 21 residential aged care homes and 12 retirement villages, is renovating and expanding:

  • The Grange Retirement Village, Wagga Wagga, 452km southwest of Sydney’s CBD: 37 new two-bedroom independent living units, taking total number to 196. Refurbishing and expanding community facilities.

“We’ve seen strong interest from prospective residents for The Grange with the first stage fully pre-committed four months prior to completion,” said Charles.

  • Angus Bristow Village in Elderslie, Macarthur, 65km southwest of Sydney’s CBD: Construction of 36 new two- and three-bedroom units is underway. Stage One anticipated to be finalised by mid-2024 and Stage Two by late this year.

“We are seeing strong demand with 12 units already pre-committed,” he said.

BaptistCare is also to expand and redevelop its Caloola Centre residential aged care home in Wagga Wagga. It will provide residential care to 80 people in a household model and is due to be commissioned from April.

“We know there is a growing number of ageing Australians who want to live independently with support and services around them. BaptistCare is confident in the role the village sector must play in the lives of older Australians, and our developments and growth will ensure the provision of accommodation that offers value and affordability, reduces impact on the housing shortage and contributes to overall healthier lives for seniors,” Charles said.

“Currently, BaptistCare is sitting at 96.3% occupancy and this continues to grow steadily across NSW, ACT, and WA."
