ACH Group to build new $1.6M age-in-place pocket retirement village

1 min read

Each of the four, two-bedroom units in Hope Valley, in the heart of Adelaide's northeastern suburbs, will be built to ensure that residents can comfortably age in place.

They will feature greater circulation, wider door widths, stepless transitions throughout the home, and reinforced walls for future installation of grab rails.

To provide residents with a comfortable living environment year-round, all the bedrooms, living spaces and private outdoor areas are positioned to maximise access to natural light. Each home will feature naturally ventilated living spaces, as well as double-glazed windows and will be equipped with a 1.5 kW solar system, harnessing renewable energy to power household utilities and keep ongoing running costs lower.

The development will feature secure gated access and landscaped open spaces, fostering a sense of community and providing residents with opportunities for recreation and relaxation. Each home will also have its own vegetable garden within a communal setting, promoting sustainability, healthy living and encouraging increased resident interaction.

“Older people want to remain independent at home as they age but want to stay connected, feel safe and be empowered at the same time,” ACH Group Interim CEO Linda Feldt said.

The innovative operator also announced a $5 million Health Studio Rostrevor that will bring together its retirement living, residential aged care and a Health Studio for people aged 50-plus into one hub as operators look to provide solutions to an ageing Australia.
