Summerset Group, the New Zealand-based continuum of care operator, has welcomed Doug and Leslie as its first residents in its first retirement village in Australia: Summerset Cranbourne North, 39km southeast of Melbourne’s CBD.

"Sales have picked up momentum here at Cranbourne North with the village opening to the public,” said Riet Bersma-Rees, Head of Sales Australia.

Only four homes are left at the introductory price of $599,000, according to its website.

On 9 April 2024, Summerset Group reported 255 sales for the quarter ending 31 March 2024, comprising 134 new sales and 121 resales.

“Total sales for Q1 this year were 21% higher than the same time last year, with both new and resales increasing year-on-year,” said Summerset CEO Scott Scoullar.

He added the company remains on track to deliver 675-725 homes in 2024, with more contracts expected to settle at Summerset Cranbourne North in Q2.

Summerset owns and operates 40 retirement villages either complete or under construction, with another six land sites in New Zealand and five in Victoria, Australia.
