Around 100 guests were at the Turning of the Sod event at the landmark Studley Park site last Thursday (2 November), marking the first official day of construction of the 104 premium apartments. The site already has a disability respite centre.
VMCH Board Chair Julien O’Connell AO said retirement living projects like St Clare helped VMCH to generate vital capital to deliver on its mission-based projects, such as affordable homes. (VMCH stands for Villa Maria Catholic Homes).
“I’d like to thank those future St Clare residents who are with us today – please know your decision to make St. Clare your home will also be instrumental in creating positive change for many vulnerable people over many decades,” he said.
Apartments are priced from $1.3 million to $4.95 million. The location is just 5km east of the CBD.
St Clare is expected to be completed in 2026.
