LDK Seniors’ Living to open Stage 2 of Amberfield in Canberra next month

LDK Seniors’ Living will welcome its first residents into Stage 2 of its Amberfield community in Canberra next month (October), marking the next milestone in the private operator’s $500 million, five-stage development.

The $100 million Stage 2, designed by award-winning architects Rothelowman, delivers 127 apartments, including two specialist dementia homes and care apartments, located on the edge of Weston in the ACT.

Chief Executive Officer Byron Cannon said the new stage reflects LDK’s evolving model of providing home care services within a retirement village setting.

“We are also well underway for Stage 3 at Amberfield, which is a $200 million build,” he said. “It has taken all our lessons learnt so far as well as learnings from our trip to the USA last year and will make the village world-class in design and function.”

Stage 1 of Amberfield – comprising 52 villas and communal facilities – opened in mid-2024. Once complete, the village will feature 52 villas and 272 apartments across its five stages, supported by an extensive suite of amenities: café, bar, restaurant, wellness centre, on-site grocer, barber, salon, gym, theatre, and landscaped dog and walking parks.

Amberfield is LDK’s third community, following its flagship Greenway Views in Tuggeranong, Canberra, and The Landings at North Turramurra on Sydney’s Upper North Shore, which founder Paul Browne acquired in 2018.
