Principle Living's flagship Newcastle Golf Club 172-home retirement village approved

The fifth retirement village by the business, founded by the Mann family and Stevens Group, has received development consent from the Hunter and Central Coast Regional Planning.

The 172-home Apperly Village, to be co-located with the Newcastle Golf Club at Fern Bay, highlight's Principle Living's emergence as a major seniors living provider in the Hunter Valley region with a growing pipeline of retirement communities. 

“The Newcastle Golf Club village will be Principle Living’s flagship retirement community and provide premium retirement living for retirees alongside a top tier golf course,” Principle Living Development Director Chris Old said. 

“We are very excited to be working with the club to deliver the project and create a vibrant community for our new residents, with a range of beautifully designed golf homes and units. 

“Now that the necessary approvals have been obtained, we expect to introduce the project to the market shortly and start construction in mid-2027.

“Our plans for Newcastle Golf Club and other upcoming seniors living projects in will further showcase Principle Living’s commitment to excellence in serving the Hunter Valley region.”  

Newcastle Golf Club President Alan McKelvey said the development consent was the final hurdle for the project and would allow the club to deliver course improvements under the guidance of architects Harrison Golf. 

“This is the culmination of 10 years of careful planning,” he said. “We are now at a point where the club can make its great golf course even better." 

Principle Living's first project Blueheath at The Bower is a retirement village built within the Bower Estate, a young family orientated residential community in Medowie, Port Stephens, 181km north-northeast of Sydney’s CBD. The development will be in seven stages and upon completion will consist of 112 units.
