Follow up story: Uniting (NSW & ACT) potential Liverpool development not linked to Westfield

1 min read

Last week we reported that the not-for-profit Uniting intends to develop a 20-storey aged care facility in partnership with Scentre Group (the owner and operator of Westfield Australia and New Zealand) in Liverpool, western Sydney – after the AFR reported that the facility would ‘complement’ Scentre’s plans for a commercial development on the site.

Uniting has since reached out to us regarding this story, and we would like to clarify the reported information.

The provider has confirmed that it is indeed considering a development application for the Liverpool site (pictured, 40 kilometres west of Sydney CBD) – however its plans are not linked in any way to the plans of Scentre Group.

We have also received the following statement from Uniting:

“At this initial stage, plans for Liverpool are to include retirement living, residential aged care, a healthy living for seniors space (including a Seniors Gym), long day care, a Uniting Church and broader community worship space, and some commercial space – in accordance with council zoning requirements.”

The development’s design, height and budget are yet to be finalised and will be subject to Council approval. A DA is yet to be submitted to Liverpool City Council on behalf of Uniting.
