Geelong to get first vertical retirement village from new entrant
The 11-storey building, with an additional basement level for parking, will feature 86 one-, two- and three-bedroom retirement apartments with balconies.
Each residence, designed by Cera Stribley, will showcase views across Port Phillip Bay and the coastline.
Bellevue Geelong marks residential developer Apex Living’s first move into retirement living.
Their application, lodged by Lineal Developments Pty Ltd on 22 December 2023, was for a mixed-use multi storey building (retirement village, medical centre, beauty salon, retail premises (farmers’ market and food and drink premise).

The original proposal was for the development of a 12-storey building with a height of 41.20m (excluding services). This resulted in an overall height exceeding the preferred height under the ACZ of 28m by 13.2m.
“DTP (Victoria State Government’s Department of Transport and Planning) in its further information letter to the proponent expressed their concerns with the height of the overall building and required it to be reduced in line with the Retail Core Precinct objectives. Further, DTP required the massing of the development be reduced by removing the cascading form of the building to the south (when viewed from Bellerine Street),” the Planning Permit Officer Report states.
“The proponent submitted a revised iteration that reduced the height of the building to 37.80m and deleted elements of the floor plates from the south for Levels 5 and 6.”
One Fell Swoop has been appointed as Sales and Marketing Partner.
“As one of Geelong’s most respected residential developers, Apex Living knows how to deliver exceptional places to live. We’re excited to help translate that legacy into a new sector alongside architects Cera Stribley and interior designers Studio Tate,” One Fell Swoop said last Friday.
