Govt awards ACIL Allen contract worth $4.5K per day to review innovation in aged care

1 min read

The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing has awarded economics, policy and strategy firm ACIL Allen a $186,704 contract to review innovation in aged care, including if Government incentives on offer are effective.

The contract runs for two months from 1 May 2025 to 30 June 2025, meaning it's worth nearly $4,500 per day.

The ACIL Allen contract is a response to the Aged Care Taskforce recommendation that the Government should consider ways to encourage providers to develop and scale innovative care models, invest in technology, and conduct research into best practice.

A spokesperson for the Department told The Weekly SOURCE: "The work is exploratory in nature rather than the review and assessment of any particular type of innovation incentive.

"It will also look at ways to measure effectiveness of incentives.

"ACIL Allen was selected to undertake the study as they have both aged care system expertise and research capacity providing government independent perspective on innovation and how it can be applied within the sector."

In our 'political wishlist' series ahead of the Federal Election, Natasha Chadwick, CEO of NewDirection Care, said the next elected Government should fund and promote aged care innovation and establish an 'Aged Care Innovation Hub' where new ideas could be developed.

The Government has established Aged Care Research and Industry Innovation Australia to develop innovative aged care models, with a particular focus on home care and with a view to improving workforce capability, and to establish an Aged Care Innovation Network and Community of Practice.
