The latest survey by the advisory firm points to compliance and the costing of meeting care minute targets as major concerns for aged care providers.
In the Mirus survey of 244 aged care organisations, 28% said their greatest concern was overspending on workforce while 21% said it was delivering care without funding.
Another 28% said their biggest concern was missing care minute targets.
“We are seeing providers walk a tightrope – doing their utmost to deliver high-quality care while keeping one eye on the funding and the other on compliance,” said Rob Covino, Founder at Mirus Australia.

The survey also revealed some providers may be lacking the systems to track care minute targets, and to assess if funding is adequate to cover the increased cost of care.
13% of respondents said their "biggest concern" was inaccurate or delayed reporting.
A further 5% of respondents said they don't analyse if their organisation is fully funded to meet care minute targets, while 8% said they suspect they’re delivering more care than they’re funded for.
“There’s a clear gap between operational awareness and strategic funding alignment,” said Tyler Fisher, Data Scientist at Mirus Australia.
“Improving confidence and control over care minute resourcing must be a priority.”
However, nearly half (45%) said they are tracking if their organisation is fully funded to meet care minute targets "closely", which Tyler said is "good news".
The survey was conducted in advance of Mirus' Getting Care Minutes Right webinar. A recording is available here.
