The Australian village and aged care industry will be sorry to hear that Andrew Paykel is departing our shores to take up the Managing Director role of Fisher & Paykel in Thailand.
Andrew has been a driving force behind the design of white goods that are ergonomically friendly for older people, with handles suited to arthritis, sliding drawer dishwashers and even bigger type fonts for the partially blind. He also set up the only central 24/7 service and parts centre so operators had one reliable source of help for the life of an ILU.
Few people appreciate that the dishwasher/stove/fridge brand Fisher & Paykel originated in New Zealand and the Paykel family is still passionately committed to what is now the world wide success of the business.
