National Trust supports aged care plans for heritage-listed homestead in Canberra

The Gold Creek homestead at Gungahlin

The ACT Government is currently tendering the historic Gold Creek homestead at Gungahlin, 16km from the CBD, which is expected to accommodate at least 160 aged care beds and 30 support units.

The National Trust has written to the Suburban Land Agency saying it “strongly supports” aged care on the site if the homestead is preserved and the facility built around it.

The letter follows the recent decision by the ACT Heritage Council to not list the site for territory significance.
