RFBI swings hard to retirement villages with multiple projects in action

1 min read

RFBI, which owns and operates 20 retirement villages and 22 residential aged care homes, has created a senior position, Head of Retirement Living, to reflect a change in its strategy.

“We want retirement living to be where the bulk of our clientele for home care and residential aged care comes from,” said RFBI CEO Frank Price.

“They are a captive market for our other services, and we are reimagining retirement living at RFBI.”

“Retirement living occupancy is going gangbusters. Occupancy is at 96% which is full, and the number of beds occupied in aged care is the best since 2018,” Frank said.

RFBI will devote more staffing to its retirement living, with a new intake of overseas staff through the Aged Care Industry Labour Agreements starting at RFBI this year. Fijian registered nurses are being used as care assistants, with many of the villages co-located with aged care homes.

The SOURCE reported last month that RFBI has lodged plans to add 164 retirement living units, plus a community centre, to complement its 70-bed residential aged care facility Dubbo Masonic Village in NSW’s Central West.

In addition, extensive renovations are taking place at RFBI Berry Masonic Village and RFBI Hawkins Masonic Village and Retirement Village in Edgeworth, Lake Macquarie. The masterplan for RFBI Holt Masonic Village in the ACT, will support the need for retirement and residential care services in the community. RFBI is waiting for final legislation to be approved by the Government before lodging a DA.
