Since last weeks exposé of two aged care facilities in the Sunday Telegraph, reported in the Village Manager 1/6/10, the internet is buzzing with reports of failing standards, aged care breaches and accusations of Accreditation Agency tip offs.
The Sunday Telegraph has now reported that some aged care facilities are given up to a weeks notice of an inspection and labels the accreditation system a joke. The article is based on anonymous sources and alleges that homes are routinely given notice so they can roster on extra staff and clean up before the inspector from the Accreditation Agency arrives.
