Adelaide Aged Care Facility Put on Notice: Government

‘Government puts Brighton Aged Care on Notice,’ AAP, August 13, 2008.

An Adelaide aged care facility has been put on notice by the Federal Government after an audit raised concerns about resident neglect. A government official was sent to Brighton Aged Care on Monday night after the Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency raised the alarm. The agency found the 71-bed home was not complying with 14 of 44 basic accreditation standards involving the health, personal care and lifestyle of residents. Minister for Ageing Justine Elliot said the agency and her department would work together to closely monitor the situation. The facility has been given two weeks to improve standards or face sanctions.
