Department of Health and Ageing commits PR disaster

The Federal Government’s Department of Health and Ageing has had to do a lot of explaining after mass direct mailing packages of material to aged care staff explaining how they can earn more if their employer meets the pre-conditions of the $1.2B Workforce Supplement.

The problem is the program has not been finalised, with many operators demanding changes. It’s still under review by the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs; some aged care operators are pushing senators to reject the proposal. While the Department says the mailing is a mistake, operators suggest it could have been done on purpose to place pressure on staff to support the Supplement.
