Major structural work complete on VIC Govt’s $82M RAC facility

A significant construction milestone has been reached with the main structural works on the Victoria Government’s $81.58 million Wantirna residential aged care facility, 24km east of Melbourne’s CBD, now complete.

The milestone on the four-storey dementia-friendly aged care facility for 120 residents has been marked by a traditional ‘topping out’ ceremony to celebrate the achievement.

With a focus on mobility and dementia-friendly design, the facility will cater to the more complex needs of its residents. Thoughtful design touches such as memory boxes with personal items at the entrance of each room will help residents feel safe and at home.

Operated by Eastern Health, the new facility will connect to the existing Wantirna Health site to ensure easy access to palliative aged care, allied health, and support services.

Construction on the facility, first revealed in October 2019, is expected to be complete in late 2022.
