VIC Government launches tender for 120-bed aged care home in Wantirna

1 min read

As we reported here, the home will form part of the Wantirna Health Precinct, an integrated healthcare hub located next to the existing Wantirna Health service, 24km east of the Melbourne CBD.

Minister for Disability, Ageing and Carers, Luke Donnellan, says the State Government hopes to appoint a builder in August, with construction to start soon after and the home due for completion by mid-2022.

“Being within the Wantirna Health Precinct means residents will also be able to quickly and easily access health services if needed,” he said.

Victoria is the only state government to be actively building new aged care homes since the infamous SA Government-run Oakden facility was shut down in in 2017. They now have 10% of the state’s aged care facilities with around 5,500 residents.
