SA Not for Profit aged care providers join forces to export knowledge to China

Southern Cross Care (SA & NT) Inc., Elder Care and Life Care have already secured their first contract under the joint venture – named Australian Ageing and Wellness Services (AA&WS) – to deliver coaching and development services to a new aged care provider in Shandong.

The deal will involve four SA registered nurses working alongside hospital staff in China on three-month clinical rotations until September 2018.

The company came about after the three providers were invited to join a new Australia China Aged Care Consortium with the Chinese port city of Yantai in early 2016.

The new company will be chaired by current Southern Cross Care (SA & NT) Chair Brendan Bowler who says with an estimated 330 million Chinese people aged over 60 by 2030, Australia’s aged care expertise is in demand.

Business opportunities in the Chinese aged care market are reported to be worth around A$787B and are expected to grow to A$2.5T by 2030.
