Public meeting to be held on Maronite Sisters’ $38M redevelopment aged care plan
The NSW Government’s Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure believe the State Significant Development Application (SSDA) for a 100-bed, four-storey aged care home is approvable.
However, as there have been more than 50 objections, the Maronite Sisters of the Holy Family’s redevelopment of its site in Marrickville, 7km southwest of Sydney CBD, will be decided by the Independent Planning Commision (IPC).
The IPC has called a public meeting at Marrickville Pavilion on Wednesday, 6 April to hear representations.
Key concerns raised by the public and Inner West Council related to the structural stability of the heritage boundary wall, traffic and parking implications, and the bulk and scale of the development and associated privacy and amenity impacts.
The $38.4 million development on 4,822msq of land, with architecture by Jackson Teece, would see the existing 54-bed aged care facility demolished.
