The South Australian Not For Profit provider has opened Stage 2 of the redevelopment of Resthaven Bellevue Heights in Mitcham, 7km south of Adelaide's CBD.
The 99-bed home was officially opened by Manager Residential Services, Jessica Margrate, and Board Member, Rev Dr Graham Vawser (see main picture).
CEO Darren Birbeck, Louise Miller-Frost (Federal Member for Boothby), Catherine Hutchesson (State Member for Waite), Dr Heather Holmes-Ross (Mitcham Mayor), Rev Peter Morel (Moderator of the Uniting Church in SA), Linda Feldt (ACH Group CEO), David Moran (Southern Cross Care (SA, NT & Vic) CEO), Jenny Hall (Uniting SA CEO), and Michelle Church (St Basil's Home (SA)), were in attendance, along with residents, volunteers, staff, and family members.
The $36 million project has been in planning and construction for five years, with the first sod turned in 2021, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The redevelopment by Resthaven, which has marked its 90th anniversary this year, included:
- consolidation of all 99 residential single rooms under the one roof making it easier for residents to access communal areas and services,
- replacement of 32 rooms built in the 1970s,
- refurbishing of all other rooms, and
- a new 16-room memory support unit.
The meeting and activity area of co-located Resthaven Bellevue Heights Retirement Living was also upgraded.
Stage 3 of the redevelopment is currently underway, including construction of a new carpark.
The architects are Brown Falconer while the builder is Sarah Constructions.
