RetireAustralia Chief Executive Officer Dr Brett Robinson has been honoured at The University of Queensland’s 2025 Alumnus of the Year at the UQ Alumni Awards – Courting the Greats.
A UQ medicine graduate and former Wallaby, Dr Robinson was recognised for leadership in rugby governance, advocacy for player welfare, and contributions to healthcare and education – values he says guide his work at RetireAustralia, which he has led since May 2019.
Dr Robinson is the first Southern Hemisphere Chair of World Rugby and a Vice-President of the Retirement Living Council. He has championed concussion research in collaboration with the UQ Queensland Brain Institute and served as President of King’s College (2015-2022), helping steer its transition to a co-residential institution.
“As a boy from Toowoomba, Mum dropped me at King’s on my first day, where I immediately fell into a diverse network of relationships and support,” Dr Robinson said.
“My parents gave me the greatest gift – the opportunity to further my education. Dad always reinforced that an education comes with the responsibility to lead and unlock life’s opportunities.”

RetireAustralia – currently building its 30th retirement village in Brisbane – was acquired in August by Invesco Real Estate for $845 million from previous owners Infratil and the New Zealand Superannuation Fund.
