Albury City Council to build 24 new seniors social housing apartments

The NSW town of Albury on the Victorian border will gain 24 new social housing apartments for seniors following an agreement between Albury City Council and the state’s Land and Housing Corporation (LAHC).

The development will comprise 14 one-bedroom and 10 two-bedroom social housing units earmarked for seniors, including three adaptable units for residents who use wheelchairs.

According to state MP for Albury Justin Clancy (pictured, centre left), the new units will reflect the area’s social housing needs.

“The latest Local Area Analyses called for new one and two-bedroom units for seniors, and this project is helping to address this need by offering modern, convenient, fit-for- purpose units which are close to essential transport and health services,” he said.

Construction is set to begin early next year, with a completion date of late 2024; the tender process is open until 1 February 2023.
