Barossa Villages’ promise to retirement village residents

1 min read

Not For Profit Barossa Village – 60km north-east of Adelaide and operating independent living, residential, respite and home care – will soon begin building its next generation of Independent Living Units, embedding dementia-supportive design from the ground up.

“Our partnership with The Dementia Centre continues to provide clarity on how we create not only supportive indoor spaces but also holistic home environments that maintain strong links to the community,” the organisation notes in its 2024/25 annual report.

With 195 ILUs already in place, CEO Ben Hall said the new, purpose-built homes will “set a new standard for retirement living, blending innovation, sustainability and compassion.”

Located at the gateway to what will become our Heritage Park Precinct, the project reflects our values and embraces the evolving needs of older Australians.

Barossa Village Chair Helen O’Brien reports the organisation is awaiting the Federal Government’s response to its funding submission for the 10-hectare Heritage Park – announced in September 2024 – which envisages about 100 living units within a community-focused framework. “We are ready to proceed!” she said.

Barossa Village also reported a 7.2% rise in revenue and an operational surplus of $843,000.
