Original builder now a resident as history repeats itself at Sundale’s Palmwoods Garden Village on QLD’s Sunshine Coast

1 min read

Keith McKinnon, Sundale’s original builder who built Nicklin Lodge in Nambour in Queensland’s Sunshine Coast in 1963, will officially launch Sundale’s $42 million, 69-unit extension of Palmwoods Garden Village this morning.

Keith, now 92, resides at Palmwoods Garden Village and will replicate a key moment in Sundale’s history by placing a gold coin in the formwork of the new development, being built by Hall Contracting Pty Ltd.

When Sundale’s first bricks were laid in 1963, Dr Alan Raine (then Apex President) placed a gold sovereign under a brick as a symbol of the rich and rewarding opportunities available to residents at Sundale.

Sundale, a Not for Profit community operator, has five operational villages across the Sunshine Coast region. It also operates six care centres, provides home care, and owns and operates a caravan park.
