The body of 86-year-old David Hyde (pictured left), a former businessman, who lived in a nearby retirement village, was found in the water on Thursday, 1 February.
He was brought to shore by the South Australian Police but could not be revived.
“He was a nice guy. We spoke to him on a regular basis, and he went out nearly every day to get his newspaper, but basically kept to himself,” neighbour David Dosser said.
Police, who believe there are no suspicious circumstances connected to the suspected drowning, are preparing a report for the South Australian coroner.
