WA Not For Profit aged care provider Juniper Care has announced independent Chair Maree Anason will retire at the end of February 2024, and current independent board member and former KPMG partner Grant Robinson (pictured) will step into the role.

Grant has strong credentials in governance and excellent insight into Juniper, having been on the provider's board since 2018, and as Juniper’s current Audit and Risk Committee Chair.

“As the incoming Board Chair, I’m humbled to accept this role and would like to continue with measured leadership, identifying key issues, remaining focused on the big picture and delivering on our strategy," Grant said in a statement from Juniper.

Grant is the Assistant Auditor General Financial Audit at the Office of the Auditor General in WA, and is also on the board of Bethesda Health Care. In his role at KPMG, Grant was in the Audit, Assurance and Risk Consulting division with a focus in the health, ageing and human services sector.

Maree joined the Juniper board in 2014 and was appointed Chair in October 2019. During her time with the provider, it grew to be one of WA's largest Not For Profit aged care providers, with 24 residential aged care homes across the state, 11 retirement villages, 2,200 employees, and more than 4,200 customers.

Juniper, which is part of the Uniting Church in Western Australia, acquired 18-bed Waratah Lodge in Wagin, 225km southeast of Perth, in October last year. Later the same month, it announced the acquisition of the City of Bayswater's aged care assets, including City of Bayswater Hostel, Carramar Residential Aged Care, Carramar Retirement Living Village, Salisbury Retreat Retirement Living Village, and Noranda Retirement Living Village.
