Michelle, who has been with Levande since June 2022, has been elected to the role vacated in the sector's peak body by Claire Scapinello who resigned as CEO of South Australia's largest retirement living provider ECH last month.
With more than 25 years’ experience in for-purpose organisations, Michelle brings a strong values-driven perspective to the Retirement Living Council Board at a time of significant opportunity and change, said her employer.
“Like many families, mine has experienced firsthand how powerful a welldesigned retirement living community can be. Supporting my late mother through her journey with dementia reinforced the importance of choice, dignity, and connection as we age. It’s a reminder that this work is not just professional – it’s often deeply personal,” Michelle said.
She acknowledged the sector faces both challenges and exciting opportunities.
“With growing demand and changing expectations, we must continue to innovate – creating communities that allow older Australians to stay well, socially connected and secure. At the same time, we must work to ensure affordability and long-term sustainability so that these options are available to future generations.”
Levande CEO Kevin McCoy noted Michelle’s leadership reflects Levande’s broader commitment to shaping the future of retirement living in Australia.
