Ozcare CEO Tony Godfrey steps down after 12 years in role

Tony Godfrey has announced his departure as CEO of Ozcare, a branch of St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland, after 12 years at the helm.

Tony first joined the organisation in 1996 and has since overseen a period of significant growth and transformation. Under his leadership, Ozcare’s workforce has expanded from 2,800 in 2013 to more than 4,800 today. He has also overseen the launch of new aged care facilities and retirement villages across Queensland, strengthening Ozcare’s reputation for care and community service.

The organisation’s 2024 Annual Report showed revenue of $464 million, up from $372.2 million the previous year, with expenditure rising from $353.6 million to $439.7 million. Ozcare now operates eight retirement villages with 494 units, 18 residential aged care homes with 2,190 bed licences and 2,842 residents, one private hospital with 94 beds, and a wide range of community services, including 3,516 Home Care Packages, 16,271 CHSP clients, 967 NDIS participants, 924 QCSS clients and 455 day respite centre clients.

Rendu Towers was opened in July 2023

One of Tony’s proudest achievements was the 2023 opening of Rendu Towers in Newstead, Brisbane – Ozcare’s flagship vertical retirement village. The project, which also includes the modern Villa Rosalie aged care facility, has been hailed as a benchmark for integrated, inner-city seniors’ living and a model of continuum of care.

“Through every challenge, including the pandemic and significant sector reforms, Tony’s steady hand and people-first approach have ensured Ozcare remained true to its mission,” the organisation said on LinkedIn.
