Treasure Jennings appointed Aged Care Complaints Commissioner

1 min read

The current head of Victoria's Mental Health and Wellbeing Commission has been appointed as the new Aged Care Complaints Commissioner, effective 1 November 2025, when the new aged care reforms take effect.

Treasure Jennings was formerly Mental Health Complaints Commissioner in Victoria, as well as Disability Services Commissioner and Public Transport Ombudsman. She has extensive experience leading consumer complaints and dispute resolution systems.

The former Aged Care Complaints Commissioner, Louise Macleod, quietly left the $400,000 per annum role at the beginning of the year after 18 months in the role.

The role of the Aged Care Complaints Commissioner is to help older Australians, families and carers understand how to make a complaint, how complaints are managed, and how they are resolved.

Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissioner Liz Hefren-Webb welcomed Treasure to the Commission. “The appointment of a Complaints Commissioner is a significant development for the Commission under the new Aged Care Act 2024.

"I am looking forward to working with her to deliver the Commission's purpose - to uphold the rights of older people accessing aged care and to protect and enhance their safety, health, wellbeing and quality of life,” Erin said.

Minister for Aged Care and Seniors, Sam Rae, said, "When developing the Aged Care Act we heard clear feedback on the need for an independent Complaints Commissioner. This appointment brings us one step closer to the rights-based, person-centred aged care system that’s safer and fairer aged care system for everyone.”
