Video: Will aged care co-contribution be a game changer for retirement villages?

With the Aged Care Taskforce Final Report to be handed to Government this month, the inaugural Westpac ‘Conversations in Melbourne’ event hosted by DCM Group CEO Chris Baynes was held last month.

Participants were filmed answering pointed questions the future of retirement villages:

  • Will co-contribution be a game-changer for retirement villages, and why?
  • What is your vision of residential aged care in five years’ time? Is it different from today, and how?
  • Who will be the winners, and losers, in these sector restructures?
  • Consolidation: How many residential aged care operators will there be in five years, nationally?
  • Are you optimistic or pessimistic about the future?

Veronica Jamison, Chief Executive Officer, Shepparton Retirement Villages, Colin Stewart, Chief Financial Officer at OneCare Limited, and Matthew Whitbread, Senior Advisor, Bridge Advisory Group were joined by Westpac’s Kaizaad Mehta, National Head of Health and Industry Specialisation, and Ross Macpherson, Bank of Melbourne, Executive Manager Professional Services/Health/Wealth and Investments – Industry Banking at the first-ever Westpac lunch in Melbourne.
