In another sign that China is tapping Australia’s aged care talent, Sapphire Group Holdings, which owns Sapphire Care and partly owns BlueCross, has signed a joint venture agreement with Sungin, a subsidiary of investment company Fosun Group, to develop a luxury aged care facility in Beijing, Aged Care Guide reports.
The deal will see the two companies work together to build a four-storey, 92-bed aged care facility – named Fragrant Hill – on 8,600sqm in Beijing based on Sapphire Care’s model.
Sapphire will manage the facility with the focus on providing care in a “home-like environment”.
China currently has over 9.6M people with dementia, but the majority of aged care facilities are limited in their dementia care services – leading to a demand for Australian expertise.
