US presidential candidate Joe Biden is targeting retirees in a new campaign criticising the Trump administration’s response to the COVID-19 crisis.
The video, which you can watch here, is based in the largest retirement community in the world with over 110,000 residents, in Central Florida.
In it, a retiree known as Donna says she and her husband feel “trapped” and unable to visit their grandkids, blaming President Trump for his “lack of action”.
Central Florida is traditionally a stronghold for Republicans, but analysts believe focusing on coronavirus could be a key strategy to target swing votes.
“The Biden Campaign realised that if they could get at least a small percentage of white seniors here in Florida to switch, in a close state like Florida that could make all the difference,” says Aubrey Jewett, a political science professor at the University of Central Florida.
