Courier Mail investigation reveals AACQA revoked accreditation for five aged care facilities in past year

1 min read

The News Corp paper says it was only after a request that the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency disclosed that the Martindale, Valley View and Kensington aged care homes in SA and Yagoona and Ritz aged care homes in NSW had had their accreditation withdrawn.

The comment piece also says that it is too easy for aged care providers to cover up incidents of abuse and assault as they are not required to report assaults between residents.

It notes that there were 2,853 cases of assaults in aged care by other people including carers and visitors reported in 2016-17.
