COVID-19 outbreak in Brisbane forces closure of aged care homes to the public

An outbreak of COVID-19 in Brisbane has forced the closure of aged care homes to visitors and non-staff in Greater Brisbane.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced the closure as the state recorded a further 10 locally acquired COVID-19 cases on Tuesday and the state went into a three-day lockdown.

Statewide restrictions on aged care, hospitals, disability care and correctional facilities will apply with no personal visitors allowed during the lockdown period.

There will also be increased PPE requirements at all aged care homes.

The Queensland Premier announced on Thursday morning that the lockdown would end at midday today.
