Deaths of three aged care residents cleared of being linked to COVID vaccination

1 min read

Health authorities have determined that the deaths of two residents at Uniting’s Mingaletta aged care home in Port Macquarie on the NSW Mid-North Coast was not an adverse reaction to the COVID vaccine.

As we covered here, the two men, aged in their 90s and 80s respectively, fell ill and died shortly after receiving the Pfizer vaccination.

An investigation has found pneumonia caused the deaths of both men.

Separately, authorities have found no link between the death of an 82-year-old woman and her COVID vaccination earlier that day in Blue Care’s Yurana aged care home in Springwood, south of Brisbane, last week.

Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt said more than 1,000 people die in residential aged care in Australia every week – and that number would invariably include people who had been vaccinated recently.

“As that happens, then if there are cases that follow, they are investigated,” he said.
