Libby Lyons has resigned as Chair of the Aged Care Workforce Industry Council (ACWIC) and Deputy Chair Graeme Prior will now lead the organisation.
Graeme (above) is a well respected and highly experienced aged care leader. After a long career as an accountant, Graeme found his calling in aged care. He founded Hall & Prior in 1992 with a single family-owned aged care home. Hall & Prior now has 25 ‘centres for healing’ across Australia, servicing 1,600 aged care residents and employing 2,100 permanent staff.
Libby announced her resignation, effective immediately, last week.
Graeme said Libby made a significant contribution to ACWIC and to the aged care sector more broadly.
“Under Libby’s leadership ACWIC has been able to make tremendous improvements to the aged care workforce and shape important reform for the system across the country,” Graeme said.
“Libby is a formidable leader, with her positive yet forthright approach quickly attracting respect across the sector. We are grateful for her commitment to ACWIC – she will be missed.”
Libby (pictured) said, “Since joining ACWIC, I have been inspired by the capability and approach of its people and impressed by the organisation’s capacity to deliver, despite a challenging and ever-changing operating environment. “The aged care sector is fortunate to have ACWIC’s important work led by a strong and experienced Board and talented executive. I have enjoyed my time with the team at ACWIC and engagement with stakeholders of the sector.”
ACWIC was established in 2019 as a Not For Profit industry-led council responsible for coordinating, monitoring and reporting on the implementation of the 14 strategic actions to come out of the ‘A Matter of Care’ report by the Aged Care Workforce Taskforce.
