Juniper drives 2,500km solution: modular homes for aged care staff in the Kimberley

1 min read

A convoy of trucks rolled into Fitzroy Crossing on Sunday, 10 August, carrying long-awaited modular homes that will provide accommodation for staff at Juniper’s Guwardi Ngadu Residential Aged Care Home.

The delivery marks a major milestone for the project, which has been designed to tackle one of the region’s most pressing challenges – housing shortages, particularly in remote areas, which make it difficult to attract and retain skilled aged care workers.

The project will deliver 11 homes in total – eight one-bedroom and three two-bedroom modular units –  which were constructed in Perth by Trigon Projects, and transported more than 2,500km to the site.

The units will be installed on land leased from the Bunuba Operations Aboriginal Corporation (BOAC), adjacent to the aged care home.

Work will now focus on site preparation, installation, and service connections. BOAC will oversee cultural and environmental monitoring during excavation and ground disturbance.

The project is being partially funded through a Federal Government grant, with additional funding provided by Juniper, and is expected to be completed in early 2026.
