StewartBrown roadshow: Listed aged care operators spend more on care staff

1 min read

Advisory and accounting firm StewartBrown staged a roadshow last week presenting the results and trend analysis of its Aged Care Financial Performance Survey, benchmarking 1,102 aged care homes and 34,999 home care packages.

One graph that caught our attention was the fact that listed aged care providers Japara, Estia and Regis spend more on direct care staff than the industry average and significantly more than the Top 25% of aged care homes, close to all being Not For Profit operators.

This fact clearly contradicts the campaign by the nurses’ union which is advocating against private operators being in the sector and receiving government funding, because they put profits before care.
