The WA Country Health Service has completed the second stage of an upgrade at Dongara Health Service near Port Denison, around 350km north of Perth, doubling the size of its residential aged care wing.
The Blake House residential care facility has increased from six to 12 beds, and a new palliative care unit has been set up at the hospital; these refurbishments follow previous upgrades including a new ambulatory care unit and additional parking.
“The McGowan Government remains committed to ensuring that end-of-life care is centered on the individual needs of the patient, their family, or carer and the new dedicated palliative care suite at Dongara Health Service ensures this is the case,” said Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson (pictured).
“All of these improvements form part of a $9.86 million investment into Dongara Health Service and delivers on our commitment to ensure world-class healthcare close to home.”
The third stage of the redevelopment will begin by the end of the year.
