$40M third stage of RetireAustralia’s The Verge on QLD’S Gold Coast approved

62 independent living units and a care hub with 10 to 12 beds will be the third stage of RetireAustralia’s The Verge project at Burleigh Heads on Queensland’s Gold Coast after its plans were approved by Gold Coast Council.

The $40-million O'Neill Architecture-designed project is RetireAustralia's 28th village and its first greenfield project.

The first stage of the project featured 40 independent living units with the under-construction second stage of 66 units is scheduled for completion early next year.

The care hub will provide 24-hour, seven-day support for the residents with a Registered Nurse oversight and options for palliative care.

RetireAustralia’s CEO Dr Brett Robinson said it was important that people were able to age in place and live as much of their life in the same environment while being able to do what they wanted.

“They can live their life how they wish and receive the care they need in their home,” he said. “And we can provide the support they need if they have to step into a high-acuity environment without them needing to leave the community.”
