Country Club Living (CCL) has secured part of a 39-hectare parcel of land for a retirement village near Toowoomba, 125km west of Brisbane in Queensland’s Darling Downs region, in a $3.6 million deal.
Toowoomba Fairways, which received Council approval last year, will be a 183-unit development with fully-detached permanent single homes and a private golf course, at an estimated cost of $100 million.
CCL has purchased the northern part of the land parcel, with the larger southern part to become a 400-lot residential community built by Homecorp Constructions, a developer from the Gold Coast.
According to CCL Director Alistair Gull, the operator now must tender building works and earthworks, as well as finalise its road plans.
“We’re going to get in and start the golf course as well as the clubhouse for the course — that will help us with sales as well.
“We had a soft launch from some inquiries we’ve had, and we’ve got some good interest already. We’re excited to have a new village in Toowoomba, and it suits our product,” he told The Chronicle.
There are currently at least 38 retirement villages in the Toowoomba area.
