New entrant to sector Adrian Barnett to build intergenerational retirement village in Moreton Bay region

1 min read

Construction is well underway on a new over-65s retirement village with an on-site childcare centre in Mango Hill, 28.4km north of Brisbane’s CBD, the debut in the sector for developer Adrian Barnett.

Quintess Retirement Community will comprise 117 two-bedroom and 28 three-bedroom townhouses, each with car parking, plus a family-friendly community park and a recreation centre with resort-style amenities.

A display home is now open, and the first residents are expected to move in by 2023.

“Despite the weather, there has been great progress made on-site and it is exciting to see the homes and Community Centre coming to life,” the operator said.

“Stage 1a residents are starting to prepare for their move at the end of this year.”

Adrian (pictured) told The SOURCE that his entry into the retirement living sector was spurred not only by the entry of the Baby Boomers into retirement, meaning plenty of growth in store, but also by the potential for intergenerational planning.

“Under our master plan, we have a childcare centre on site as well, I think we’re the first in Australia to have that. We have Mango Hill Early Learning, which actually will interact with the Quintess Retirement Village. It’s quite a new thing and quite a positive thing,” he said.

“Not everyone’s going to want to have kindergarten placements or activities at the centre, but we’re guessing there’ll be anywhere between 30 to 60, 70%.”

Quintess Retirement Community is being developed in conjunction with Entero, Plus Architecture, and Arcadia Landscape Architecture.
