50% of TAFE SA aged care graduates “unemployable” – in 2015: The Australian

1 min read

It appears that TAFE SA Certificate III care graduates have been “unemployable” for at least the past two years.

News Corp is reporting the Australian Medical Association warned the SA Government two years ago that TAFE SA’s training was sub-standard and half of its aged care graduates needed upskilling.

Its Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) was one of 14 training courses randomly audited by the Australian Skills Quality Authority that was suspended from accepting new enrolments last week after failing to meet standards.

Over 1,000 students may now be forced to undergo reassessment while the State Government has ordered an internal inquiry into the government-funded body.

What now for providers who have hired new staff in the last two years?
