A week of no new cases in Victoria – with “significant announcements” due on Sunday

1 min read

Victoria has recorded its seventh consecutive day with no new cases and deaths, with the number of active cases in the state now sitting at just 15.

This is down from the previous day’s total of 20, and a significant decrease on the 80 active case reported at the same time last week, and the 326 reported at the same time in October.

With no new deaths, the state’s death toll stayed steady at 819.

The state’s 14-day rolling average of new cases dropped to 1.3 in metropolitan Melbourne (down from Wednesday’s total of 1.4) and remained at 0 in regional Victoria.

There were also two Victorians in hospital with coronavirus, and none in intensive care.

“Significant announcements” due on Sunday

Without giving too much away, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews flagged “significant announcements” would be made on Sunday.

These are expected to provide further detail about the roadmap ahead for the state for the rest of the year moving into 2021.

“We will also map out what the rest of November will look like,” he added.
