Aged Care Guild launches ‘Protect Aussie Aged Care’ online petition

1 min read

The representative body for the big nine, Allity, Arcare, BlueCross, Bupa, Estia, Japara, McKenzie, Opal and Regis, the Aged Care Guild, has launched an online petition before the federal budget set to be announced on May 9, to place pressure on local members to fight cuts in aged care funding.

The petition says:

I have just learned that funding levels for Aged Care are not guaranteed in this year's Budget.

Last year the Federal Government cut funding for Aged Care by $1.2 billion – placing significant pressure on the system. Further cuts to Aged Care would mean many elderly Australians will not have affordable access to the care they need.

I believe that we should be protecting the most vulnerable in our society, not cutting support for an essential service like Aged Care yet again.

I urge you to do whatever you can to ensure that the Federal Government does not cut funding for Aged Care in this year's Budget.

Please inform me what your position is on this very important issue. Can you give me an assurance that you will not support any further cuts to Aged Care funding in the Budget?

Aged Care workers and residents need your support today.
