Anglicare Southern Queensland to redevelop aged care home in Bundaberg

1 min read

With the ever-pressing need to keep up with the standards expected today and the demands scheduled for the immediate future, Anglicare Southern Queensland has announced a major redevelopment of its facility Meilene Residential Aged Care at Kalkie, a suburb of the city Bundaberg, about 385km north of Brisbane CBD.

Meilene Residential Aged Care will go from 52 to 88 rooms in construction beginning this month.

Anglicare’s Group Manager for Residential Aged Care and Retirement Villages, Nick Hansen, said the redevelopment will include a new, larger kitchen, air-conditioning for every room and landscaping.

“We know how important it is for people to access residential aged care in their own community, close to their family and friends, and the places that are special to them. We believe every older Australian should have that option,” Mr Hansen said.

Mr Hansen said the team at Meilene was working very closely with the home’s residents and their families to minimise the impact of the works.
